Pastor GW Dameron
Pastor
GW Dameron is a native Virginian. He was born and
raised in the Fredericksburg area where his parents and
siblings still live. A graduate of Christopher Newport
University, he obtained a Bachelor of Science in biology
in 1991 while competing for his college's cross-country
and track and field teams.
After college, Pastor GW moved to North Carolina for the
next six years. Many of those years were spent pursuing
a professional career in distance running. As an
athlete who didn't have a personal relationship with
Jesus Christ, athletics was the god he served. In
December 1995, he received Jesus Christ as his Lord and
Savior. "I grew up with an intellectual knowledge of
Jesus," says Dameron, "but I had no relationship with
him. I had no idea what it meant to live my life for
Christ."
In 1997, Dameron moved to San Diego, CA, and soon after
felt the call to ministry. While attending Bethel
Seminary, Pastor GW served in a variety of ministry
roles gaining valuable experience. In 2000, he was also
given the opportunity to serve as a chaplain to the
athletes and coaches competing at the Olympic Track &
Field Trails in Sacramento, CA.
Pastor GW is a bi-vocational pastor. He works as a
self-employed consultant in the pharmaceutical research
industry. In this way, he can approach ministry as a
calling instead of a job. He has been married to Carrie
since 1999, and they have three daughters: Abby Rae,
Emma and Hope. |
